Bio
Anthony Michael is a Portland-based Filipino-American artist whose interdisciplinary practice in the last decade has largely centered around photography, art books and small-run collaborative publications.
While studying Communications Design at Pratt Institute, he developed an interest in imagemaking and urban semiotics, and their relation to our collective experience.
His work plays with symbols, imagery and feeling through documentary photography, collage, and formal experimentation, while investigating history and memory in often-times fragmented ways.
He is a member of Wave Contemporary, teaches Risograph printing at the IPRC, and runs a small publishing platform called Whatnow Press.
